Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Sicily Kariuki on Thursday revealed that she has ordered an inspection of all health care facilities across the country.
In a tweet, she said a special team had been formed to oversee the exercise.
"I instituted a multi-agency Rapid Results Initiative team to assess & establish the level of quality of healthcare provided in all health facilities," she said.
The CS noted that the team has already inspected a number of health facilities, and arrested health care providers operating on fake certificates.
"So far, the team has inspected & verified 1,741 health facilities; closed down 255 facilities; 28 persons have been arrested for offering health services without certification; and 42 health workers are facing disciplinary action from their respective regulatory bodies," she added.
CS Kariuki noted that the team is supposed to complete the inspection in August.
"I am expecting the full report from the team by August 6th, 2019," she revealed.
