The United States on Friday blacklisting top Zimbabwean minister over the ongoing protests in the South African nation.
Secretary to the State Mike Pompeo said Owen Ncube, the internal security minister, will no longer be allowed to travel to the United States.
The State Department said it would deny a visa to Owen Ncube, the minister of public security, under a sanctions law that targets "gross violations of human rights."
"We are deeply troubled by the Zimbabwean government's use of state-sanctioned violence against peaceful protesters and civil society, as well as against labour leaders and members of the opposition leaders in Zimbabwe," Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement.
"We urge the government to stop the violence, investigate and hold accountable officials responsible for human rights violations and abuses in Zimbabwe," he said.
Thousands of Zimbabwe citizens thronged into the streets of Harare, calling for the US to lift sanctions imposed on President Emmerson Mnangagwa's goverment.
United States has recently targeted people believed to be corrupt, with hundreds of them being sort for various economic crimes committed in their countries.
Early this week, US envoy to Kenya Kyle McCarter confirmed that a top Kenyan government official was blacklisted from visiting United States over corruption related matters.
