Police officers in Kisii County have heightened security across the county ahead of Christmas celebration on Wednesday, 25th December 2019.
Speaking on Tuesday at his office, Kisii County police commander Martin Kibet reiterated that police officers are on a high alert to deal with criminals who may be out to terrorize innocent locals.
“I want to assure Kisii residents and visitors that security is beefed up. Security officers across the county have intensified security patrols to ensure cases of crime reported during this festive season is zero,” he stated.
Mr Kibet confirmed that they have recalled all police officers across the county who had gone for annual leave as part of the measures to ensure there is adequate security. He said the recalled officers will go for leave once the festive season is over.
“We had to request police officers who went on leave to resume work and protect our people from any kind of terrorism. Local youths should shun joining illegal groups which won’t be condoned by police,” he added.
Further, the commander warned residents against excessive consumption of alcohol during the festive season urging them to report any such cases for appropriate action to be taken.
His sentiments come shortly after politicians from within the region urged the police department to stay vigilant and tighten security this festive season to allow residents to celebrate in peace.
