Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has said President Uhuru Kenyatta remains Mt Kenya's political kingpin amid the 2022 succession debate.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Wambugu said the President needs to be respected by all means.
He urged the president not to relent in his fight against graft, adding that the Head of State should me more ruthless this year.
“President Uhuru should be respected. He remains the Mt. Kenya kingpin now, and in the foreseeable future. The President should not relent in the fight against corruption. In 2020 he should be even more ruthless, “ he posted.
He also hit out at critics of the president, asking them to keep off, adding that allies of Deputy President William Ruto should respect President Kenyatta as long as he remains in power.
“There are individuals planning for 2022 while they are in government, instead of taking advantage of the current government to develop the region and meet the promises they made to those who elected them. Such individuals must be condemned in no uncertain terms. There are politicians with criminal cases and they hide behind Deputy President Ruto for protection. When they are arrested they claim that they are being targeted for supporting Ruto,” he added.
