Police in Njoro have launched investigations into the death of a fifth-year student at Egerton University main campus.
The body of David Ongeri was discovered on Thursday evening at his rental house by a neighbour at Egerton Gate estate.
Njoro sub-county Police Commander Mohammed Huka who confirmed the incident said the neighbour found the university student dead when he went to check on him.
Huka said the electrical and control engineering student who died under unclear circumstances had a deep cut on the neck, face, head and hands.
“It is sad to learn of the death of one of the students killed for no clear reasons,” said the Police Commander.
Ongeri met his untimely death when he was expected to start his industrial attachment after he completed his project.
Egerton University student leader Henry Mulyungi asked the police to investigate the incident and ensure the culprits are arrested and prosecuted.
“We are requesting police to bring to book criminals behind the murder,” said the student leader.
Police took the body to Egerton University morgue waiting for the postmortem report to ascertain what killed the student.
