According to Miguna who apparently supported Senegal, the democracy of a country plays a huge role in determining which team he supports.

“When I told Kenyans the truth that countries ruled by tyrants cannot defeat those governed by the rule of law, many yelled at me that I should join in blindly cheering #HarambeeStars just because they are Kenyan. I only cheer African teams from democratic countries. Viva, Senegal,” he tweeted.

The lawyer cum politician who in 2017 unsuccessfully vied for Nairobi gubernatorial seat, went ahead to narrow down on some of the reason why he supported Senegal as opposed to his home country.

“I'm a genuine Pan-African who believes in the entire Africa; not just in its provincial parts. I also believe in freedom, integrity, good governance and justice. These are the values I celebrate. Please don't ask me to celebrate mediocrity just because it's ours. #KenyaVsSenegal,” Miguna noted in another tweet.

He also claimed that disregard for the rule of law in a country also affects its sports.

Kenya lost 3-0 to Senegal in the final Group C clash and finished third with three points behind group leaders Algeria and Senegal who were second.

The national soccer team still have a chance to qualify to the round of 16 depending on the outcome of today's final group games.
