Political analyst Edward Kisiang'ani has asked Kenyans to stop demonizing Deputy President William Ruto with regards to the many corruption allegations heaped on him.
Since he came to power alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013, the opposition and other Jubilee government insiders have branded the DP corrupt and unfaithful.
But Kisiang'ani now says that Ruto should be left alone as nobody has ever levelled any evidence against him to prove the allegations.
"There is no way DP Ruto (or any other citizen for that matter) is going to transform into a thief or criminal just because, week in week out, his political opponents say so. Those with incriminating information about the DP should pass the same to DCI n EACC or keep quiet," he tweeted on Saturday.
The commentator who is also a university don now says that he has since taken it upon himself to establish if Kenyans have a reason to bash the DP, concluding that they don't.
He says that most of his correspondents said that they are only cautious about him thanks to the information they are getting from the political arena.
"Have spoken to many people in this country about the allegations being levelled against the DP. Whenever I ask them to tell me if they had any evidence against the DP many often reply; " Sisi tumeambiwa na fulani na fulani eti Ruto ni Mwizi na ni mbaya (we have been told by so and so that Ruto is a thief and a bad man), Let's stop this guy!" Kisiang'ani noted in another tweet.
