Kenyatta University fraternity is mourning the demise of a fifth-year student who was shot in a suspected love triangle.
The student, who was later identified as Mr. Felix Otieno, was shot at his girlfriend’s house in Ruiru.
Detectives from the Elite Special Crimes Prevention Unit are now working with the police to probe the matter as the family awaits for the cause of the death.
It is suspected that Otieno, who was a medical student at the institution, is likely to have been murdered after love went sour.
The 29-year old student died after he was shot with a single bullet. Police have revealed that the girlfriend was not around when the incident occurred.
The deceased was playing video games with a friend when the gunmen stormed the house.
The friends escaped unhurt when the gunmen shot at Otieno. He had been rush to a city hospital after the incident where he was confirmed dead.
Confirming the incident, Ruiru Police chief James Ngetich has said that investigation is underway to determine the reason behind the shooting.
He also assured the family that the killers of the student will be brought to book once investigations are complete.
“There are many issues coming up but we are hoping to unravel the reasons. We need to know who the killers are if they were robbers and why they picked on the student (Otieno)," Mr Ngetich said, as quoted by Standard.
