The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) made the revelations Wednesday, claiming to have nabbed a number of vehicles, including one allegedly owned by ODM leader Raila Odinga.

However, Magwanga, a former Homa Bay gubernatorial aspirant, says that he bought the Toyota Land Cruiser from the State and paid all the required taxes, and has documented proof.

He says that he bought the vehicle at Sh60,000 in 2007 after it was auctioned due to mechanical issues, before changing its registration number to KBZ 333Q from the initial GK Y611.

“Why is someone claiming the vehicle’s registration number is now invalid when it was bonded by the government and duly registered? This is malicious," he said as quoted by the Standard.

Magwanga says that he bought several cars after an advertisement about their sale was made by the government, adding that he is the rightful owner of the vehicle in question.

“I have a bonded title, which gives me the same rights as a standard vehicle title. If you have a bonded vehicle, you are required to register such a vehicle when the original ownership has been transferred to you. This is what I did exactly,” he added.

Raila's allies have since dismissed claims that his Range Rover was nabbed, insisting that he has never owned a Range Rover.
