A longest serving MP in Gusii has dismissed claims by his opponents that his old age is affecting his leadership.

Kitutu Chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi while speaking on Saturday when he hosted Deputy President William Ruto at Nyakoora Catholic church said he is committed and energetic enough to continue serving constituents. 

"I want to confirm that I am strong and I have more plans for my constituents. Lazy opponents must keep off my leadership and allow me serve the people who trusted and voted for me during the last year's polls. My age is not affecting my leadership," he noted.

Mr. Angwenyi who is in his early 70s is serving his 5th term in office. 

He assured that CDF funds won't be misused as claimed by rivals who are engaging politics of propaganda with an aim to remain politically relevant. 

"Locals should keep off attending event organized by lazy people calling themselves leaders in the constituency. This is my time to serve the people diligently," said Jimmy.

The MP urged members of the public to report any CDF official to authorities. 

"CDF officials caught embezzling public funds with an aim to accumulate wealth using dubious means must be apprehended and prosecuted," he added.
