Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on Friday said that he feels former footballer McDonald Mariga will emerge the winner of the Kibra Parliamentary by-election.
In a tweet, Ngunyi said that from the look of things, Mariga stands a better chance to grab the seat in the November 7 mini-polls.
“I have this #FridayFeeling that MARIGA will take the KIBRA seat. But being a FRIDAY, I am SUSPICIOUS of my GUT. What do you THINK?” he said.
His sentiments come after President Uhuru Kenyatta formally endorsed Mariga for the seat.
While endorsing the football star, Uhuru said that he has what it takes to emerge the winner of the contest and assured him that he has his full support.
"The President wished Mr Mariga, who was accompanied by Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju, success in the contest and assured him of his full backing,” State House said in a statement.
The move of the president has already elicited mixed reactions in Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) camp.
A section of leaders believe that Uhuru was not right to endorse Mariga because of the handshake.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has since warned Raila over the handshake.
