In a statement released to the media houses, ODM said that the Kibra nominations were undertaken in a free and fair manner as opposed to reports that they were bungled.

ODM said that the claims by the standard are ill-motivated and ill-driven.

“Once again, Mr Odinga urges ODM supporters to continue ignoring, while carefully monitoring, the Standard’s malicious reporting on the Party’s activities in Kibra. He appeals to all aspirants to remain true to their pledge, back the candidate and help the party retain the seat in November."

The party insisted that the exercise reflected the will of the people of Kibra. The political outfit also highlighted that Raila called for nomination upon the request from the candidates who had expressed interest in the seat and not because of his personal gain.

ODM accused the media house of spreading propaganda ahead of the by-election.

"Mr Odinga continues to appeal to Party supporters to reject attempts by the Standard to make them believe that the parties that handpicked candidates in Kibra did a better job than ODM which conducted free, fair, credible and peaceful nominations,” read a statement from the party.

The statement came after ODM refunded Sh250,000 to each of the candidates who expressed interest in running for the Kibra seat following the demise of Ken Okoth. The Party has fronted Imran Okoth to battle for the seat.
