Kihara made the donation on Friday during the conclusion of the 'All for Justice' service week in Lamu.

The Hindi inmates had requested for a TV set, saying that they needed to keep themselves informed of current affairs and get entertained.

Kihara while donating the TV set also pledged to purchase speed boats for the Hindi prison.

The AG said the national government is doing everything to ensure prisoners' welfare across all prisons in the country is taken care off.

"The government is implementing various programs aimed at improving the welfare of prisoners and remandees," he said.

The AG who oversaw the release of petty offenders at the Hindi prison lauded the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji's measures to decongest the prisons.

He said there are prisoners and remandees who do not deserve to be in prison.

"We need to clear the prisons by releasing petty offenders so that people with 'big' crimes like corruption are put inside," the AG said.

The week long service week organized by DPP Haji ended on Friday.

Haji engaged residents in community dialogue with aim of expediting hearing of cases.

Twetty one (21) petty offenders were freed from prison after agreeing to plea bargain.
