Outing Communications Authority Director-General Francis Wangusi has said he is ready to hand over power after pressure was mounted on him.
Wangusi has, however, said that he will only vacate office if the government identifies his replacement in a proper manner.
He said that he cannot afford to hand over power if the manner in which he will do it violates or threaten to violate Article 34 (5).
He also said that he wishes the process to be undertaken in a transparent manner for the sake of progress when he vacates office.
“I pray that soonest a new CA Board will be constituted in full and strict compliance with the letter and spirit of the Constitution to enable me to hand over in a graceful and orderly manner,” says Wangusi, as quoted by K24.
Pressure had mounted on him to leave his position after the end of his term in office.
He, however, had obtained an order from the court asking him to remain in leadership until a case related to the matter is heard.
Wangusi had refused to vacate office after acting director-general Mercy Wanjau was named to assume the power.
Activist Okiya Omtatah had also filed a case seeking to stop the new appointee from assuming the roles of the predecessor.
