Residents and traders of Ndalat shopping center in Nandi county are desperate and forced to spend a lot of money to get water for their various activities.
According to a section of the local, Governor Stephen Sang should come forward and rescue them from the biting shortage.
The shopping center is situated almost to a hill and is vastly growing due to its central location and the recently tarmacked road.
Initially, residents were served with boreholes that have now run dry.
"The boreholes we have dry up easily. We are pleading with our governor to drill some for us and probably fit it with solar panels like the case of our neighbors in Kabiyemit shopping centre." Pamela Jerop a hotel owner told Hivisasa.com.
The situation is worsened especially where the rains stop leading to a temporary closure of some businesses, especially hotels. Traders sometimes fear the emergence of water-borne diseases.
Ndalat centre also has various businesses like cyber, a number of small hotels, various shops, hardware, pubs, and fuel petrol station. Most of the mentioned businesses require water availability to ensure smooth running.
"We have heard our lawmaker Vincent Tuwei severally promising for water projects here. We appreciate other works he has done for us but we urged him to push water projects harder. We expect to hear from them soon." another trader said requesting anonymity.
