Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung'wah has now called on the government to allow controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna to come back to Kenya after Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria secured freedom.
In a tweet on Saturday night, Ichung'wah noted that his Gatundu South counterpart had been released after the protests and his hunger strike when he was behind bars.
Kuria was arrested on Friday for assaulting a woman in December last year. He was released on a cash bail of Sh 20,000 after a court order was issued for him to be freed.
Ichung'wah insisted that the rule of law must be honoured as opposed to illegitimate orders issued by individual powerful officials.
"Moses Kuria released this evening following protests & him beginning a hunger strike, BUT it’s MORE than just illegal incarceration and subsequent release. It is and must be about the RULE OF LAW Vs Rule of man.@MigunaMiguna also should be home with his family," Ichung'wah tweeted.
The vocal lawmaker who is also a close ally to Deputy President William Ruto urged the government to obey the court orders and allow Miguna to travel back to Kenya.
On Friday, High Court Judge John Mativo ordered the Attorney General Paul Kihara to appear before the court on Monday and explain why court orders to allow Miguna's return were disobeyed.
