The nomination of Odedeh has since been contested on grounds that he was picked from a sister agency, the Lake Victoria North Waterworks Development Agency.

This is according to Mr Michael Oyiembe who has petitioned the appointment, who also argues that Odedeh was not an official of the agency he has been picked to lead.

But Chelugui who visited the agency headquarters on Wednesday rubbished the claims, citing Section 152(3) of the Water Act in justifying his appointment of Mr Odedeh.

"A person who is an employee of a water services board established under the Water Act, 2002, during the commencement of this Act, shall be deployed as may be determined by the Cabinet secretary to public sector institutions or to the county governments," reads the act.

Odedeh, a former Technical Manager at the Lake Victoria North Waterworks Development Agency takes over from Daniel Oronje who was also the acting CEO.

Oronje was standing in following the expiry of Petronilla Ogut.

He initially held the Technical Manager position at the agency, after which he took over temporarily.
