We often wrong each other in our daily lives. A good partner will apologise after wronging you in one way or another. There is a difference between a genuine and fake apology. Most people do not know how to differentiate the two. Here are four ways to tell if an apology is genuine.

1. Is she or he making things right?

It hurts when someone wrongs you and apologises but does nothing to heal your broken heart. A sincere man or woman will strive to change his or her ways. He or she will fight all the way to restore happiness in your life after hurting you.

2. Does he/she accept the blame?

A genuine apology is where the wrongdoer is ready to take the blame. Accepting responsibility shows some form of sincerity. If your partner is not ready to take the blame then he or she is doing it just for the sake of it.

3. Has he/she changed after the apology?

Your partner's actions after the apology are very important. A partner who is genuine will not continue engaging in wrongdoing after apologising to you. If he or she hasn't changed at all then the apology was not genuine.

4. Does your partner accurately describe his/her actions?

An apology is genuine if your partner doesn't try to hide the truth. He or she should speak the truth behind everything that occurred. Some vagueness could mean he/she is not sincere in their apology.
