The county boss, who also doubles as Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement leader, said that the budget will not assist the country unless all leaders unite to back the same.

He pointed out that the unity of different leaders is paramount in attaining the big four agenda.

"I call on our Senators, MP's and all leaders to lead a sober discussion on this revenue allocation issue. This is not just a play with figures on a piece of paper, but playing with people's lives and the future of our country," he tweeted.

He also appealed to his fellow counterparts to ensure salaries are paid on time and in full. He challenged lawmakers and other leaders not to derail the quest of devolution. He noted that the government has achieved a lot since devolution was embraced and it’s time to soar higher.

“I ask that the Counties get the 15% to ensure that programs continue running and salaries are paid as we engage further. We cannot afford to go back and lose the momentum and benefits accrued as a country through devolution," he added.

National Treasury Henry Rotich read the budget on Thursday, Some of the areas hit hard by taxes include betting and alcohol. The Sh 3 trillion budget has already attracted different reactions from leaders as well as the general public.
