Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi now says that she is very keen on ensuring that her political and public life does not interfere with her private life.
The former nominated senator is among the nation's notable political figures whose family remain largely unknown to the public.
Speaking on Radio Citizen on Wednesday morning, Elachi said that she is keenly balancing to ensure that he politicking doesn't affect the lives of her family.
She said that they are not in any way involved in her political actions and don't have any business being in the public eye.
"Jamii yangu siipendi iwe katika media kwa sababu hawahusiki katika siasa zangu. Maisha yangu ya kijamii nataka ibaki hivyo na sitaki watoto wangu wapate shida (I want my family to remain out of the media because they are not part of my political life. I want my children out of problems)," she said on Mjadala Wa Citizen show.
She also gave made revelations her marriage life, terming herself a wife and a mother, adding that she drops off the politician tag once she steps into her house.
She added that she keeps her husband updated on her political plans and engagements, which at times see her eat into family time.
"Ninapoingia nyumbani nawacha siasa pale nje. Pia ninapokuwa na engagements kama mikutano namweleza mume wangu maana mambo ya siasa usipokuwa makini yaweza kuletea shida mingi katika ndoa (I cease being a politician once I enter my house. I also notify my husband about my political engagement to avoid marital problems)," she added.
