Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua is rooting for the roll-out of Universal Health Care to all counties. Mutua on Monday said that the move will be necessary for better health care provisions moments after he met his colleagues. In a series of tweets, Mutua said that the government needs to reconsider health measures that will transform the lives of millions of youth and adults.
"I highly recommend that Universal Health Care be rolled out to all counties so that every child, youth, man and woman in Kenya receive quality healthcare regardless of economic background. This a right, not a favor," he said.
He also acknowledged that there are endless challenges the governments face when dealing with health but promised that success is guaranteed with persistence.
"We had quite a number of challenges but I believe these are workable. We experienced an increase of patients but we are proud that our doctors/nurses ratio is 10 to 10,000 patients in Machakos," he added.
The second term governor noted that his government has put in place different measures for better health care including recruitment of experts and acquisition of ambulances among others.
"Our investment in hiring over 1,200 new staff, 75 ambulances, upgrading of facilities and reworking of systems makes Machakos a leader in healthcare provision in Kenya," he said.
