Sabina Kerubo, the Siaya Chief Inspector at the center of the murder of The Star newspaper reporter Erick Oloo, is once again on the spotlight over claims of issuing death threats.
This is after a Nation reporter based in Siaya county reported receiving threats from the same officer, who he says phoned and told him to await his own (death).
He reported the alleged threats to the police in Bondo, under Occurrence Book number OB28/25/12/2019.
"She called me twice on phone and threatened me. I have reported the matter to Bondo Police Station," said the reporter, who highlighted the Oloo's murder.
He claimed that Kerubo, in the phone conversation, accused him of giving the wrong perception to the public, saying that he will, therefore, pay with his own life.
"You did a story that gave a wrong perception to the public. Let me tell you whatever you did for me you will pay, Kerubo told me on phone," he quoted Kerubo in his statement.
Kerubo, who has turned into a state witness, was put on the spot after the slain journalist was found dead in her house in Ugunja.
She told the police that Oloo banged his head on the wall to death.
She said that at the time, he was drunk, insisting that it was a case of suicide and not murder.
The two had been cohabiting for a year.
