Oparanya blasted leaders of the two parties, Moses Wetang'ula and Musalia Mudavadi noting that it shows how divided they are and their lack of commitment in forming a formidable Luhya alliance that will unite the Luhya people.

The Deputy ODM party leader pointed out that their (Mudavadi and Wetangula) decision to field different candidates indicate that they cannot agree on fronting one candidate to represent the Western region for the presidential seat.

“Why are they sending mixed signals and confusing the Luhya nation? Their remarks are a clear testimony that they are reading from different scripts and are busy undermining efforts to unite the Luhya community,” Oparanya said as quoted by Daily Nation

“If they are serious about Luhya unity, why did they field separate candidates in Kibra? They should stop wasting time preaching Luhya unity while advancing selfish, personal interests,'' he added.

He faulted the two leaders for accusing him of supporting the ODM candidate noting that he has matured to take the top seat.

“Let them watch my steps since I have been in politics for the last 20 years and defeated my opponents. They should know I’m now politically mature and that the time has come for me to go for the top seat in 2022,” said Oparanya who has thrown his weight behind ODM candidate Imran Okoth.

ANC party fronted Eliud Owalo while Ford Kenya is fronting Khamisi Butichi.
