President Uhuru Kenyatta has mourned the passing of renowned Tanzanian businessman and author Ali Mufuruki. The president's condolences were conveyed by State House on its social media platforms.
President Uhuru's message of condolence was directed to his Tanzanian counterpart President John Pombe Magufuli and the people of Tanzania.
"President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a message of condolence and comfort to the President and the People of the United Republic of Tanzania as well as the family and acquaintances of Tanzanian businessman, author and philanthropist Ali Mufuruki who died recently | @MagufuliJP, " the tweet by State House read.
Mufuruki lost his battle to an ailment at a South African hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
He is well known for his philanthropic causes that saw him pump resources into improving the lot of the less fortunate in his home country of Tanzania.
Ali Mufuruki was a founder member of the Infotech company and oversaw its growth as one of the towering companies on the African continent.
The businessman's book that traced the journey of Tanzania from an agrarian economy to an industrialised economy was a best seller.
The book was entitled "Tanzania's Industrialisation Journey, 2016-2056: From an Agrarian to a Modern Industrialised State in Forty Years."
When he fell sick, he was rushed to the Agha Khan hospital before being airlifted to South Africa according to media reports.
