Eleven students from Kakamega County have been suspended over alleged involvement in devil worship.
The students, who study at Mirere Secondary School, were sent home by the management after one of the students made the revelations.
It is reported that some of the students are set to sit their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams this year.
The student who reported the matter to the school's administration claimed that his colleagues wanted to introduce him to a cult dubbed Illuminati. The management of the school conducted a search and found the students in possession of a chain with demonic symbols.
In an interview with Citizen Digital, some of the students said that they had been away from school for about one month following the suspension. The students said that their efforts to return to school have proved futile.
The school deputy headteacher reportedly asked different church leaders to pray for the students before they can resume their studies.
This is not the first case of alleged devil worship that has been reported in Kenyan schools. Teachers and parents have been calling upon students to be wary of ill-driven schoolmates and other persons who are likely to introduce them to cults.
