Eliud Kipchoge jetted back in the Country on Wednesday morning after becoming the first man in history to run a 42 kilometers marathon under two hours.
Kipchoge ran for 1 hour, 59 minutes and 40 seconds during the Ineos 1:59 Challenge in Vienna, Austria on Saturday attracting the interest of Senators who now want him to address the house.
Led by majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen and his minority counterpart James Orengo, the Senators on Tuesday said plans should be put in place for the marathoner to address the Senate as soon as possible.
“Is it too much for me to request this House that Mr. Eliud Kipchoge having achieved that feat should be given the honor by this House and the Senate Business Committee seat and decide as soon as possible with approval of this House he (Kipchoge) be given opportunity to address this House,” said the Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator.
He was supported by Orengo who urged the government to ensure the availability of world class stadiums across the Country to spur growth in sports.
“I hope that in recognition of what our sports women and men are doing the government is going to wake up and have world class stadia all over the country,” added the Siaya Senator.
