In a rare occasion, the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church has sent a letter to the Atheists Society of Kenya.
While members of the SDA church worship and believe in the existence of super natural and omnipresent God, the atheists reject all such religious beliefs.
However, on Friday the SDA Syokimau Airport View church sent a letter to president of Atheists Society of Kenya Harrison Mumia invoking the name of God, as well as that of Jesus Christ.
The letter was to thank atheists following their intervention following suspension of 17 Form Four students at Kabianga Boys High School last week.
The learners, who are members of the SDA, were sent home after they refused to sit for an examination on a Saturday, which the church regards as Sabbath.
The atheists wrote to the Kabianga principal demanding the suspension to be revoked failure to which they would seek legal redress.
The students were recalled on Tuesday with the principal reporting an amicable solution has been reached between the school and parents.
Here is the letter written by B. K Arap Too on behalf of the SDA Syokimau Airport View church to thank the atheists for their intervention in the Kabianga saga.
"Receive our Christian greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
"Our pastor, elders and the entire of SDA church Syokimau Airport View wish to most sincerely thank you for showing solidarity with our members who are learners at Kabianga High School, Kericho County."
"We are happy to inform you that through God's intervention and with the kind effort of your group and others, the learners are back to school. Your appeal raised an alarm in regard to contravention of constitutional guarantees of our country, thank you."
"Your kind and thoughtful act will be remembered. God bless you."
In its response, the Atheists Society of Kenya said: "We received this letter from the SDA Church in Kenya with a lot of humility and gratitude!"
