Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina now says that Kenya could also go the South Africa way in the coming days.
This comes amid ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa, where locals are attacking foreigners and destroying their businesses accusing them of taking their job openings.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) member now says that with the rising levels of poverty in Kenya, we might soon be in the same situation.
He warned that it would be to blame on the widening gap between the rich and poor, cautioning that if not tamed, the poor might soon be left with no avenue of generating income.
"Xenophobia In Rsa: This, if not careful, will come to Kenya; this is a situation where the gap between the rich and poor is so wide such that the poor are left to figure out how to make a living," he tweeted on Wednesday.
A lot of destruction and violence has been reported in the South African province of Gauteng, which includes the Johannesburg city.
The clashes have seen shops believed to be owned by foreigners looted and burnt, attracting continental condemnations.
Nigerians have since condemned the attacks on their people living in Nigeria, amid other condemnations from across the continent.
