Speaking to members of the press on Boxing Day, the outspoken politician said that he used to have a good relationship with the two leaders.

That good relationship suffered, Muthama explained, because he threw his weight behind the presidential bid of Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

He claimed to have exchanged harsh words with President Moi over Kalonzo Musyoka's presidential bid.

"I exchanged harsh words with President Moi because I wanted Kalonzo to be the president of Kenya (Mimi niligombana na mzee Moi uso kwa uso nikitaka Kalonzo awe rais wa Kenya), " Muthama said. (12:50-12:58)

"Uhuru and I used to be bosom friends but that relationship suffered because I wanted Kalonzo to be the president of Kenya (Mimi na Uhuru Kenyatta tulikuwa chanda na pete lakini nilikosana na mweshimiwa Uhuru Kenyatta kwa sababu ya Kalonzo awe rais wa Kenya), " he added. (13:48-13:57)

Muthama has installed himself as the leader of the Kamba nation and has vowed to lead talks between his community and other communities with a view of reaching an agreement on the presidential candidate to support in 2022.

His strong words come just weeks after saying that he would not rally behind a Raila Odinga presidential run.
