Obado seemingly received overwhelming support from the residents who attended the function, with each of his sentiments being met by applause and ululations.

When he rose to speak shortly after his Nyamira counterpart John Nyagarama, Governor Obado was met by cheers from a good chunk of those in attendance.

“When I say BBI, you say Tibim! (Nikisema BBI, mnasema Tibim!”) said the second term governor shortly after being beckoned on to the podium by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho. The crowd responded to him in a big way as the BBI, Tibim! Chorus took charge.

“First and foremost I have brought you a message and plenty of greetings from Migori County. The people of Migori are saying that this time round they are inside BBI. The Journey is one and we are ready (First and foremost, nimewaletea ujumbe na salamu nyingi kutoka kaunti ya Migori. Wana wa Migori wanasema namna hii, safari hii wako kwa BBI ndani, ndani ndani zaidi. Safari ni moja, na sisi tuko tayari),” said Obado as applause after applause followed him.

Obado has severally been ranked as one of the best performing governors in Nyanza.
