President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have joined the friends and family members of Daniel Ole Muyaa in mourning his demise.
The veteran politician died on Wednesday.
The Maa community elder died at the age of 74. He was also a civic leader in his community.
In his message, Uhuru said that he has lost a true friend. He also asked God to give the family strength to mourn the deceased veteran politician.
“Mzee Ole Muyaa was a man of the people. He was an ardent fighter for the rights and the welfare of wananchi. It was due to his leadership skills that he was able to serve for a long period as the chairman of Olkejuado County Council and the chairman of the then Association of Local Government Authorities," said Uhuru.
On his part, Ruto said that Muyaa's death is not only a big blow to the family but also the entire nation. He noted that the deceased left behind a huge mark in Kenya.
"Condolences to the family, friends and the Maa community for the loss of Mzee Daniel Ole Muyaa, a respected and influential community leader," he said.
Ruto added: "Mzee Ole Muyaa was a fierce champion of the rights of minority groups and made invaluable contributions to their advancement, especially in education and representation. He advocated peace, cohesion and harmonious relationships among communities. Rest In Peace," he said.
