The President made the announcement when he announced changes to his cabinet at the Mombasa State Lodge on Tuesday.

Political analyst Ambrose Weda on Wednesday welcomed the move, hoping that the move will help revive the ailing economy.

"The president has done well, let's see what Yattani can do to revamp the economy," he said in an interview on KBC English Service.

Yattani has been the interim Treasury CS since last year when he moved in to fill the vacancy left by former CS Henry Rotich.

This was after Rotich and his Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge were technically thrown out of office after they arraigned over graft charges.

On the Judiciary issue, Weda, also an advocate, faulted the president for pressuring the Judiciary to convict those charged before it.

He stated that convictions can only be achieved if the government, through the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) gives the courts sufficient evidence against suspects.

"The president knows that you have to present evidence. He should not demand for convictions but should allow the courts to try the suspects," he added.

He further blamed the government for the delayed conclusion of some cases, blaming it on the reduction of the Judiciary's budget and stalled the appointment of judges.
