Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is a politician under siege if the current political development in Ukambani region is anything to go by.
Kalonzo is facing a possible rebellion as some politicians pile pressure on him to quit politics.
Some of Kalonzo's close allies have shown signs of dumping him ahead of the 2022 general election.
Governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) are some of Kalonzo's allies who have shown signs of leaving him.
Kibwana who doubles as the Wiper chairman has threatened to ditch the party.
According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Kalonzo needs to keep Ngilu on his side.
The analyst observes that it will be a political blunder if Kalonzo allows the governor to abandon him.
Ngure notes that Ngilu is a political 'master' who can help Kalonzo ascend to power in 2022.
"She is a mobilizer and Kalonzo should keep her to his side if he is serious with his presidential ambition," Ngure said.
Ngilu became the first woman to contest for a presidential election in 1997.
She was also part of politicians who ganged up in 2002 to end retired President Daniel Arap Moi's 24-year rule.
Nicknamed 'Mama Rainbow', Ngilu is among experienced female politicians not only in Ukambani but the entire nation.
Ngilu has dismissed the claims that she is against Kalonzo's 2022 presidential ambition.
She has vowed to rally Kambas to register as voters ahead of the next General Elections.
