According to the parliamentarian, the fight has a direct impact on President Uhuru Kenyatta and is actually being used to hit him.

The exchange began two weeks back after Raila came out against Ruto's claims that the nation only lost Ksh21 billion in the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandals.

The altercation has since grown into a major exchange over the days and is promising to go even further in the coming days.

But Wambugu is of the opinion that the attacks from Ruto's side are as well being aimed at Uhuru who is seemingly drifting towards Raila's side after their truce early last year.

He said that the plan is to portray Uhuru as a man who doesn't know what he is doing and lower him before Kenyans and his Mt Kenya bedrock ahead of the 2022 presidential contest.

“This is a calculative message geared at portraying the President as one who doesn’t know what he’s doing.

It is meant to undermine Uhuru (Mr Kenyatta) as a President and cause him to disfavour among his supporters in Central Kenya and across the country," the MP told the Nation on Sunday.

A section of Ruto's allies led by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Kapseret lawmaker Oscar Sudi have however opened up to openly bash Uhuru over the last few days.

They have accused the head of state of turning against Ruto despite having initially promised to help him realize his bid to succeed him (Uhuru) as the fifth President.

Speaking in West Pokot county on Saturday, Murkomen claimed that the duo is using the handshake to realize personal goals and isolate Ruto, with a plan of scuttling his ambitions.

However, Ruto has personally avoided implicating Uhuru in his troubles, instead of specializing on Raila who he claims is out to break the ruling Jubilee Party.
