Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has accused State House operatives of orchestrating Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria's woes and mistreating him.
Kuria was on Friday arrested by the police and driven to Kilimani police station.
According to the firebrand lawyer, Moses Kuria is allegedly being mistreated for failing to heed to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), a project that was started by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga after the famous handshake.
''The Kenya police & the mandarins in the Off of President should STOP mistreating my friend Hon Moses Kuria, Mp Gatundu South. They must STOP criminalizing OPPOSITION POLITICS and DISSENT. Moses has ALL the RIGHT to refuse to subscribe to the BBI Project,'' tweeted Ahmednasir.
However, according to the police reports, Kuria was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman identified as Joyce Wanja at Royal Media Services offices on December 8 last year.
Several leaders who had camped at Kilimani Police Station where Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was held faced a rough time after police dispersed them.
Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro claimed their vehicles were also smashed by the officers at the station.
"They have teargassed us ruthlessly and smashed some of our vehicles inside Kilimani Police Station as we tried to have them obey a court order on Hon Moses Kuria's release. Members of the press were not spared either. The fact that they keep referring to "orders from above" is telling," he wrote on Facebook.
Also, a video that has been viral on the social media shows Secretary of Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication in the Office of the President Denis Itumbi running, claiming that the police had brutalised him.
