Governor Kinuthia Mbugua took the opportunity on Thursday during the Gavana Mtaani programme in Naivasha to hand over the Sh55 million cheque which will see every ward getting Sh1 million.

Mbugua said the bursary programme has been successful and has continued to support the continuity of education of needy students in the society.

‘Those who have benefit ted are people who would have lost hope of life. We have seen this programme changing lives because we target the needy,’ he said.

The county bursary is disbursed in two phases of Sh55 million in each phase where each ward gets Sh2 million per year.

The Governor also took the opportunity to donate two water tanks to Nyakinyua and Kitilikini primary schools which are in Mai- Mahiu ward.

He also donated polytechnic equipment through the department of Education including sewing machines, chairs, hair and beauty equipment, among others to Mirera Polytechnic.

Residents of Naivasha sub-county also benefitted from a new state-of-the-art fire engine worth Sh50 million which the Governor commissioned at the Naivasha sub-county headquarters.

Mbugua reiterated the aim of the outreach program was to get closer to the people and address their issues.

‘The outreach has also helped us in assessing and appraising ourselves as a government. It is also part of public participation because the residents are able to meet their leaders and ask questions as well as contribute,’ said the county boss.
