University education is no longer a 'promised land' for a few individuals.
Long gone are the times of village 'harambees' to sponsor a student in fees. The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has made quite a remarkable impact on tertiary education.
However, this year, quite a number of students were admitted to the public and private universities. This factored in an increase of the funds. But even after all the students are fully settled in their various institutions, they are yet to receive the amount. This is after considering that some students are still receiving the funds despite their cleared fees.
The funds are as a result spent on 'luxuries' and 'events'. The parents and guardians need to step in and save the remaining of these funds. This will help in making the young population aware of the fact that the funds are to be paid at the end of their studies.
It is a fact that financial assistance is a backbone to our growing tertiary education. But is it being properly used?
What step is the government taking to aid our young population? After all, this are the same leaders and servants to serve our nation in due time.
