They four were shot at Total petrol station, next to International Vision Center Church in Eldoret, along the busy Uganda road.

Reports indicate that the suspected gangsters were from Nakuru, and intended to execute a robbery in Eldoret.

Uasin Gishu County commander Johnston Ipara confirmed the incident, adding that the suspects fired at police officers, forcing the officers to retaliate.

"At around 8:00 am, our officers caught up with a vehicle which had four occupants who were driving in a dangerous manner. When police on patrol tried to stop them, they fired at the police officers who had no option but retaliate, killing the four gangsters on the spot," he said.

“The gangsters were in a mission to commit crime less than 20metres from where they were killed. After searching them, we found one pistol two magazines among others,” he added.

No police officer was injured during the incident.
