Vocal lawyer Miguna Miguna has hit out at the organisers of protests against Migori Governor Okoth Obado who is staring at murder charges.
The county boss will on Monday be arraigned in court and charged with the gruesome murder of Rongo University student, Sharon Otieno.
This latest development in the murder which detectives have been probing for two weeks now has led to activists demanding for Obado's immediate resignation, failure to which they have threatened to organise country-wide demonstrations to force him to quit.
Led by International Center for Policy and Conflict (ICPC) boss Ndung'u Wainaina, the activists argue that Obado's integrity is in question, and therefore, unsuitable to hold office.
"In any case, when your conduct leads you to reasonable suspicion from a law enforcement agency to prefer a charge to be drawn against you, your integrity is called to question. This is the situation of Governor Okoth Obado. He must resign," Wainaina said in a statement seen by Saturday Nation.
But Miguna dismissed the demos saying Obado is innocent until proven guilty and accused the lobbyists of hypocrisy.
In a tweet on Sunday, the controversial lawyer questioned why the activists have not stood up against the rule of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto whom he sensationally claimed murdered a number of Kenyans during 2017 general election.
"My friend @NdunguWainaina, it's hypocritical to purport to organise a demo against Obado who is yet to be charged when you have not organised protests against @UKenyatta and @WilliamsRuto who murdered more than 400 innocent civilians after stealing an election. Show courage!" Miguna posted.
