President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday arrived at the Agricultural Society of Kenya's Mombasa Show Ground in Mkomani to preside over the official opening of the 2019 International Show.
The president was accompanied by several government officials when he arrived at the Coastal City ahead of the event. Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho was among those present as Uhuru arrived in Mombasa.
The five-day event under the theme, "Promoting Innovation and Technology in Agriculture and Trade," is expected to attract stakeholders from different sectors of the economy. Upon arrival, the President visited the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) stand where he discussed several issues with different parties in attendance before proceeding on to other areas.
“His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta visits @EACCKenya Stand at @AgriSocietyOfKe Mkomani Show Grounds Mombasa and received by @EACCKenya Chairman Ltd. Archbishop Eliud Wabukala, Commissioners and staff at the ongoing Mombasa International Trade Fair,” EACC said.
Police had beefed up security in and around the showground before the arrival of the head of state.
Earlier on, Mombasa County Commissioner, Gilbert Kitiyo had toured the area to access the security situation before the arrival of the President.
“We are satisfied with the level of preparations and we are hopeful that it will be a successful event,” said Kitiyo, after inspecting the showground, as quoted by Capital FM.
