ODM leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday asked Kenyans to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report and hasten the process so that it can go to the referendum.
Speaking at Marenga beach in Budalangi constituency during the yearly Banyala festival, Raila pointed out that the BBI report provides solutions to problems that have been facing Kenyans for a long time, especially during the election period.
According to a report by Citizen TV, the former Prime Minister further advised Kenyans to go through the BBI report so that they could understand it.
"In the next one month we will have a debate in Nyanza, Western, Rift Valley, Central, Eastern, Noth Eastern very quickly so that we can pass it and wherever rectification is needed we rectify it, and then we go into a referendum. (Kwa mwezi ujao, tutakua na mjadala Nyanza, Magharibi, Pwani, Bonde la Ufa, Katikati, mashariki, mashariki kaskazini haraka haraka ili watu wapitishe pale ambapo tunataka parekebishwe irekebishwe, alafu tuingie kwa referundum)," Raila stated according to a video shared on YouTube by Citizen TV.
This comes shortly after Deputy President William Ruto said that he does not oppose recommendations in the BBI report.
DP Ruto nonetheless was quick to add that he will fully support the report on the condition that Kenyans accept it.
The BBI report has been the epicentre of politics in the country since its launch at the Bomas of Kenya on November 27.
