A row is heating between a businessman claiming to be President Uhuru Kenyatta's nephew and a family over a 400-acre piece of land in Mlolongo.

The row is pitting Robert Lloyd Humfrey, his wife Margaret Wamaitha Humfrey and businessman Nicholas Nzioka Ndambuki who claims to be son of Wanjiku Kahore, Uhuru's sister who died in 1976.

The family claims to have bought the land from the Beacon Ranch Limited at a cost of Sh30, 000 in 1970, while Ndambuki who was raised by Mbeti Kiilu now wants a share of the property through inclusion in the list of Humfrey's children after Humfrey's death in 1993.

The row has continued despite the National Land Commission and a taskforce set up by Interior Minister in 2011 confirming that the land belongs to the Humfreys.

Ndambuki is also facing forgery charges after being taken to court in 2014 for forging ownership documents relating to the property in question, both attempts to have the cases quashed by the Machakos High Court flopping.

Consequently, he is facing trespass and forgery charges in court, in the course of his attanpts to acquire a piece of the property.

The NLC in 2016 confirmed that Humfrey's title deed is valid while dismissing Nzioka's ownership documents as forged.

“Mr Nzioka Ndambuki has a criminal case arising from his altering false documents with respect to this land. He is accused of attempting to change his identity by denying his biological mother and associating himself with a fictitious Kikuyu lady “Wanjiku Kahore”, who, he submitted to the NLC, was his mother and a sister of President Uhuru Kenyatta and passed on in 1976,” said the commission, reports the Nation.

The Nairobi National Park Borderlands Residents Association last week sought the help of US ambassador Kyle McCarter in assuring the Humphreys and their neighbors of their security.

The envoy is said to have promised to follow up on the matter with the authorities, also promising to push for the Saitoti taskforce report implementation.

This comes at a time when plots from pieces of the land continue to be sold and developed by the buyers, while the entire piece of land belongs to the family, as per the title deed.
