Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungw'a now says that he hates the 'tanga tanga' tag given to him and a group of other Jubilee Party lawmakers allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
The group has been accompanying the DP in his weekend engagements, earning it the name 'tanga tanga' which translates to wandering.
But he now says that he finds the name abusive and doesn't like being referred as a 'tanga tanga' member, claiming that it's being used in a disrespectful manner.
"I take offence when people use that term 'tanga tanga'. In most instances, it is used in a very disrespectful manner," he said in an interview on JKL Wednesday night.
He added that the tag should not be used to describe them as anti-President Uhuru Kenyatta politicians, saying that they support the President the same way they support the DP.
"We have just been branded as team 'tanga tanga', we have never defined ourselves as team 'tanga tanga'. We support President Kenyatta and William Ruto as our party leaders in Jubilee," he said.
Ichungw'a is among the group of lawmakers and one Governor whose security detail has been withdrawn.
