The Kenyan population is after unlimited data bundle plans. However, the unexpected charges, speed throttling, and hidden limits are enough to disappoint any smartphone user. Here is a list of things to do in order to reduce your data usage.

1. Limit background data

It is one of the biggest enemies to your data and they'll suck it to nothingness without you even noticing. It happens when your phone downloads new app updates or when the Mail receives new messages. Not everyone needs this. To limit background data usage on android, click on any app that might have been draining data from the background then click background data usage off. Play store can also be a threat to your data, to stop its background consumption of your data, open up the Play Store, press the three horizontal lines at the top left to open the menu, then press on the Settings button then Auto-update apps and choose to Auto-update apps only on Wi-Fi. You can also manoeuvre to the Settings then to Accounts and press on Google and toggle off all the things you don’t want to sync.

2. Use Wi-Fi wherever possible

The crucial rule for saving data states that: if there's Wi-Fi actively use it. Chances are high to the sky that in your workplace there could be Wi-Fi. If there's no Wi-Fi in your workplace, then you can come across Wi-Fi in hotels and other public spaces. Embrace the use of Wi-Fi whenever possible as this will largely reduce your cellular data usage.

3. Change your browsing habits

Avoid browsing using the desktop version on your mobile phone. Don't delete your browsing cache, by preserving them you won't have to waste extra data downloading images from frequently visited websites.
