Former Jubilee Party vice-chair David Murathe has stated that the ruling party might not survive to see the 2022 General election. Speaking on K24's Punchline on Sunday, Murathe said the division in Jubilee will force new formations in 2022. The formations are likely to be around former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Deputy President Dr William Ruto.
"This Jubilee is a function of many forces. Those who think that Jubilee will have the numbers in 2022 are mistaken. There will be new formations in 2022. You may not see Nasa or Jubilee," Murathe said.
Murathe also said Raila Odinga-led National Super Alliance (NASA) might also not be there in 2022. His sentiments were earlier echoed by Deputy President Dr William Ruto who claims the Handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga has killed NASA. According to Ruto, there is no NASA after the Handshake.
“We accept that BBI/handshake has been hijacked to craft Odm’s 2022 political line up. Unity/inclusivity pretence and associated squander of public resources should stop. Unity? The opposition (Nasa) is already dismembered/dead; now dividing Jubilee. Big 4roll out only way to go,” Ruto said on Twitter before repeating the same comments at a church fundraiser.
