Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot has slammed members of the Murang'a County Assembly, after they shot down his Punguza Mizigo referendum push.
The MCAs on Tuesday unanimously decided to disapprove the bill, which has irked the former presidential aspirant who now claims that money exchanged hands.
In a series of tweets after the bill was rejected, Aukot claimed the Ward Reps received a total of Sh100,000 per head, a deal he claims happened in Sagana.
"We will keep moving. Bribery won't stop us. Bribing MCAs doesn't also make them right. It just speaks to the integrity issues we are seeking to correct. In this economy, 100k won't last them long. They'll be broke again soon," he claimed.
He criticised the alleged deal which he claimed was sealed at the Sagana Getaway Resort.
"At 100K per MCA. Happened at Sagana Getaway! Shameful," he added.
He added that this confirms of the perception Kenyans have about the members, apparently referring to the greed claims that have been heaped on the lawmakers.
They have also confirmed the usual perception about them. Sad for Kenya," claimed the lawyer.
Murang'a becomes the second county to reject the bill in the Mt Kenya region, after Kirinyaga, with Aukot being under pressure to get the backing of 23 more assemblies.
This is after the bill was passed by the Uasin Gishu assembly, and will need the support of about 24 to proceed to the next level.
