A 34-year-old man was on Monday arraigned before a Nakuru Court to answer to charges of killing his lover.
Geoffery Kipkurui had confessed to killing his girlfriend on July 21 and later burying the body in a forest.
The suspect is alleged to have committed the offence at their home in Nyota Michorui village in Kuresoi North, Nakuru County.
He made the confession on August 21 and even took police officers to the shallow grave where he had buried the deceased.
Kipkurui, a charcoal burner at Bargeret Forest, accused the girlfriend of adultery, adding that they had an argument on the fateful night, which turned violent as he descended on her with blows and slaps.
The suspect who was on Monday arraigned before Nakuru Deputy Registrar Nancy Makau did not take plea as judges are still on holiday.
The registrar directed that the suspect be remanded at the Nakuru GK Prison pending the case hearing, adding that the State should appoint a lawyer to represent him.
Makau further directed the suspect to be taken to the Nakuru Level Five Hospital for mental assessment before he is charged with murder.
Mentioning of the case has been scheduled for September 18, 2019.
