A suspect accused of allegedly killing a police officer was on Tuesday released on bond by a Naivasha Court.
Principal Magistrate Joseph Karanja directed that the accused be released on a Sh30,000 bond after he filed an application to be released on bond pending the next case hearing.
The police had asked Magistrate Karanja to detain the suspect in police custody and to give them 14 days to complete investigations.
The suspect was being charged in connection to the murder of a police officer who was killed at Ndabibi farm.
The officer was shot twice on the chest by a group of youth who were armed with bows and arrows.
The accused through lawyer Irungu Mburu said his client had to surrender to the police after the public demanded for his arrest over the death of the officer.
“From the supporting affidavit members of the public who exerted pressure for the arrest of the suspect has bone to chew with him,” said Mburu as quoted by nation.co.ke.
Magistrate Karanja directed that the suspect be released on bond saying there was no valid reason to continue holding the suspect after he surrendered himself to the police.
