A teacher in Mombasa County was on Tuesday arraigned before a Mombasa Court to answer to charges of obtaining money fraudulently.
Mr. Kevin Nyadhi was being accused of pretending he was in a position to register Mr. Hassan Kamanza for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination with an intention of defrauding him.
The court heard that Mr. Nyadhi allegedly obtained Sh8,000 from Mr. Kamanza promising to register him for KCSE as a private candidate.
The accused person committed the offense on March 18 at Tudor in Mombasa County.
Mr. Nyadhi, however, denied the charges before the court saying that he did not receive any money from the complainant.
In his defense, the accused person told the court that it was not his responsibility to register candidates for the national examination which is scheduled for November 2.
“It is not true that I received the cash from the complainant since it's not my responsibility to register candidates for exams,” he said as quoted by nation.co.ke.
The accused filed an application before Mombasa Resident Magistrate Erick Mutunga to be released on bail pending the next case hearing.
Magistrate Mutunga granted the application and ordered that the accused be released on a Sh100,000 bond with one surety of a similar amount.
The case will be heard on October 25.
