The government of Somalia has revealed why it has great respect to the Kenyan government and her people.
Through the country's Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire who spoke on Tuesday at State House in Nairobi, Somalia considers Kenya as their number one strategic partner in the transformation process taking place in the country.
Khaire hailed Kenya taking a bold step of standing with Somalia in the fight against terrorism in the region and enhancing strong partnership ties between the two countries which has helped in strengthening the stability and progress of the East African region.
“Your Excellency, you are our champion in the transformation of Somalia and we request you to continue leading in the efforts of reconstructing our nation,” said PM Khaire.
The Prime minister said Somalia is now on a positive trajectory and is making significant steps in social, economic and political affairs as a result of the resolve of Kenya for fight terrorism under the umbrella of AMISON.
“The reconstruction of the country and the ongoing programmes in economic development will help us reduce poverty and greatly contribute to our efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism,” the Prime Minister said in a broadcast on Citizen TV.
The premier further elaborated that Kenyan citizens have played a key role in uplifting the living standards of the people of Somalia through investing and working in different sectors in the country.
Mr. Khaire was delivering a goodwill and condolence message to President Uhuru Kenyatta from President Mohammed Abdullahi Mohamed of Somalia following the recent terrorist attack at Riverside Drive.
He said the terror attack at the DusitD2 complex has only strengthened the resolve for the two countries to defeat terrorism and violent extremism.
